Mitchell Boggs got the call in the ninth for the Cardinals on Wednesday night, and he didn't disappoint, saving a 5-3 win. Boggs threw first-pitch strikes to every batter he faced, finishing with one K and allowing one hit.

Miguel Batista and Trever Miller began warming up in the St. Louis bullpen following Ian Desmond's two-out single, but Boggs coaxed an infield pop-out from Laynce Nix to end the game.

And with that, a closer is born ... we hope. Add him everywhere. He's still available in 72 percent of Yahoo! leagues. Ryan Franklin recently vacated the ninth inning role in St. Louis, and Boggs has the stuff to hold the job. Boggs has struck out 13 hitters in 10.0 innings this season, and he's allowed just two hits, two walks and no runs over his last seven frames. He's legit, a guy with mid-90s heat and a closing-quality slider.

Also worth noting: Eduardo Sanchez was at least as impressive as Boggs on Wednesday. Sanchez pitched two perfect innings in a setup role, striking out two, routinely hitting 96 on the radar gun. The 22-year-old retired the Nats' 2-3-4 hitters in the eighth inning, so he actually faced a more difficult challenge than Boggs. Over the first 5.0 innings of his major league career, Sanchez has 10 Ks and still hasn't allowed a walk or a run.

But in most leagues, you're chasing saves, not holds. Boggs is the pick-up. Go get him, if you haven't already.
