The Carolina Hurricanes are struggling through another mediocre season and frustration boiled over for goaltender Cam Ward in a 4-3 loss at the New York Rangers.
Ward took his anger out on his stick after he allowed a bad angle goal on a soft shot by Rangers forward Chris Kreider in the second period to put New York up 3-1.*The video of the play is above.
The 31-year-old Ward stopped just 18 of 22 Rangers shots on goal in the game. He has a 2.53 goal-against average and .898 save percentage.
The loss dropped Carolina to 8-12-4 on the year and a minus-20 goal differential.
On a funny note the team’s official Twitter handle made a slight jab at a Rangers mistweet.*

At least losing hasn’t dampened their sense of humor. *
