The Atlanta Falcons' defense likely can't take too many more hits.
For the second day in a row, that group suffered a major loss. After placing defensive end Kroy Biermann on season-ending injured reserve, the club had to put linebacker Sean Weatherspoon on the short-term version.

RT @FalconsJAdams: The Falcons have placed linebacker Sean Weatherspoon on injured-reserve-designated to return. #ATLvsMIA — Atlanta_Falcons (@Atlanta_Falcons) September 17, 2013
The fact that Weatherspoon can return is the good news, but it won't be at least until the final month of the season if he does. Weatherspoon left Sunday’s victory over the Rams with a foot sprain, but it was not expected to be a serious injury at first. He's one of the best playmakers on a defense that lacks depth and star power.
And it's not just the defense that's hurting. Receivers Julio Jones and Roddy White are playing through injuries, and now comes word that running back Steven Jackson could miss a few weeks.
More not-so-great news for the #Falcons? RB Steven Jackson (thigh) may miss 2-4 weeks, source says. Officially viewed as week-to-week though — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) September 17, 2013
The Falcons have tough games against the 2-0 Dolphins and Patriots the next two weeks and don't have their bye until Week 7. The team could use a little rest, apparently.
