For the first time in 10 years, Arnold Palmer will not hit a ceremonial tee shot to kick off the Masters.
Golf World's Tim Rosaforte reported Tuesday morning that the 86-year-old, four-time green jacket winner will not participate alongside Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player. Palmer still plans to attend the year's first major and take part in the annual Champions Dinner on the Tuesday prior to the tournament.
Palmer injured his shoulder in December 2014 and was in doubt to hit a shot during last year's event. He still doesn't hit many golf balls.*
Rosaforte reports Palmer informed Augusta National chairman Billy Payne of his decision on Monday.
The Big Three have been hitting ceremonial tee shots together for just three years, with Jack Nicklaus joining Palmer in 2010 and Gary Player stepping into the ceremonial role in 2012.
