Lack of sufficient video evidence may have helped Paul Bissonnette lower his automatic 10-game suspension to 3 games, but there was enough of it to deem Andrew Cogliano's effort Saturday night a goal of the year candidate, despite the game not being televised.
In the first period during their 6-5 loss to San Jose, Cogliano raced after a puck in the Sharks zone with Scott Hannan. One he took possession, he immediately went into a spin move, falling onto his stomach where he managed to lift the puck past Antti Niemi with a backhand:
"It was just a second effort," Cogliano said afterward. "I saw Hannan was kind of close to me, cutting me off, so I decided to try and do a spin around him ... It ended up going in."
On if this move will be added to his trick back going forward, Cogliano said to the LA Times: "I don't know if I'll do it again, but I'll remember it, at least."
