what is the most popular sport or Game in your country and is there any...

...special reason to why it is so? We have a variety of games and sports in Zambia, but deal to facility constraints, soccer has become the most popular sport.

I'm from Canada..so the sport is hockey. It developed that way in the late 1800's because of the cold and long winters. It just grew in popularity ever since.

In Australia it is definitely AFL, this is a type of football but is only played in our country. We have four different types of football here, soccer is least popular. To put it in perspective, AFL gets around 40,000 people to each game, Rugby League around 12,000, Union around 30'000 (but this is played over South Africa, New Zealand and AUstralia, we only have four teams in the comp) and soccer around 5'000.

AFL is very skillful and tough and has a long tradition. It is very entertaining to watch which i guess is why it is the most popular.

Obviously I believe it is Football (or soccer for fellow ignorant americans and iceland) because no other sport has so many world widefans and players. In canada its hockey cause its really cold probably, cant say wat got into them . Because I see no reason why canadians prfer hockey. Reminded of when my French teacher from Quebec asked us if we saw the winters olympics. two students said they did, haahhah

In my country, Serbia, the most popular sport is the one we are the best one at a current year. In the present days, apart from the football (in other countries soccer) fever, we are currently very fond of basketball (5 times world champions, 3 times 2nd, and 2 times 3rd place, 18 medals in European championship, and 6 medals in summer Olympics), there's Water-polo in which we got tons of medals too, then in the last couple of years Tennis with Novak Djokovi?, Janko Tipsarevi?, Ana Ivanovi?, Jelena Jankovi?, Nenad Zimonji?, Voleyball (bunch of bronze meddals and 2 gold ones 2000 Olympics-Sydney and one in euro cup)... So then whenever our country's team plays at any tournament we take it's a reason for millions of people to sit in front of their tv's or fill the stadiums and halls.
