Theres no way to tell if you will be good or not. Just exercising would be a good start. Find an mma traing center and talk with the trainer or watch what they do. You may already know this but it takes a long time to get good. It might be too late but wrestling in high school is a great way to start.

Why not train in MMA now? Lack of funds or availability?Being small and strong is good, that is what there are weight classes for, someone your size would probably do well in a 155lbs division, that being said you have to see what weight class works for you.First and foremost would be to start cardio conditioning and spending time doing some serious flexibility building stretching. Look up PNF Stretching, as that builds great flexibility.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PNF_stretchinghttp://www.thestretchinghandbook.com/archives/pnf-stretching.phpThink of it this way, being in good shape and flexible is great for every day life, and is only going to help any athletic endevour you chose to do.As far as your success, that depends on you. You will get back what you put into it, some of it just depends. Genetics, luck, learning ability, all that comes into play, like any athletics. Not everyone is going to be a starter, MMA is the same. However hard work can overcome lack of talent many times over. So it really depends on your passion and work ethic. If you are still able to, join your high school wrestling team, even if it is for a semester or two, you will learn a lot about conditioning for athletics through a team sport such as that. Wrestling really prepares you for MMA.Otherwise I would highly suggest at least getting a training partner, someone who will help push you and keep you motivated on those days you feel slack, and someone you can motivate on the days he feels slack. Conditioning isn't fun for most people, but it is essential. As far as Arts that will compliment MMA.For the grappling there is: Greco Roman Wrestling, Judo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Sambo, Combat Sambo, Freestyle, Folk Style wresting, Catch Wrestling, and all around No Gi submission wrestling, and a ton of offshoots really. For striking there is: Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, San Shou, and virtually a ton of others, as long as it is trained realistically with heavy sparring, it can be useful.Feel free to message me if I can be of any further help or clarify anything.

You having no martial arts background could be a plus since you won't have to unlearn any bad habits that don't do well in MMA.Find a gym in your area. If there is more than one, research. Your top priority is that. If you learn the different arts in separate and distinct schools, you'll run into the roadblock of tying them all together into a single fighting form. Going straight to an MMA gym will let you go straight to fighting and save you time.Don't worry. Real MMA training and conditioning will get you in shape before you know it. Just be prepared to pay the price in blood, sweat, and tears. Buckets and buckets and buckets of them.

Yea you seem to have a lot of heart from what i can see if you're really that into it. Since you're small i say we start you off with Brazilian Jiujitsu then add boxing and kick boxing to your way slowly..Stay commited man, you'll get results.

I would recommend building your foundation on a grappling art such as wrestling, judo, or preferably jiu jitsu. Once you have a solid foundation on the ground, you can start dabbling in striking arts, but the ground game is the most important part of MMA training in my opinion. Train in grappling for at least 3 years before you even consider learning to strike.

It depends on your level of ommitment. You will not be succesful without training. If you are truly commited and ready to make a career in MMA then all you have to do is come up with a plan. I train under Jeremy Horn at Elite Performance in Salt lake city Utah. We have MMA shows every weekend here in Salt Lake so it's easy to get a start here. If you want to find out if you have what it takes or enjoy the sport you can take a firsttimer amateur fight by signing up at www.ucombat.comIf you want to know more about me or my team go to www.eliteperformancegym.comIf youw ant to see my fights look up Brandon taylor on youtube.

Hello Waza One !Please don't misconstrue my advice as sarcasm or an attempt to rain down on your parade. Secondly, perhaps of the wording used, being "interested" is different from being "serious". Almost 95% of would-be students who tells me over the phone about how "interested" they are in starting martial arts never shows up. As for the question of you being successful in MMA, The ultimate truth that only YOU can answer and make it happen. Lastly, while you're looking for a gym or coach, you could start working with stamina ( running, swimming, kayaking..etc..etc) , Strength full body workout ( weight lifting...etc..etc). This is something you can do on your own for time being.Good luck and looking forward to seeing your name flashes arcross the UFC on TV.
