Fishing rods? i have questions.?

I know about fishing, im from an island were the general public fishes for a living. we have big charter boats and go out off shore. I want to know more so i can talk fishing better.

any info you can give me about different types of rods, fish you catch offshore, the amount you catch, etc. anything at all.
