My Sony Ericsson Phone wont turn on.?

Well I had a car charger for it and it broke so i went out and bought a wall charger and now the phone wont charge and wont turn on (battery is dead). So yeah the phone wont turn on and it wont charge and the red light is on on the charger so i know its plugged in right. so any ideas?
