IEEE 1394 Firewire Card Is Not Recognized In My Laptop!?

I Have A Gateway Laptop With Windows Vista And I Bought A Dynex Firewire Cardbus And Inserted It In My Expresscard Slot.But My Laptop Won't Recognized At All.I Should Tell You The Firewire Card Does Not Go All The Way Through,Is This The Reason? I Updated The Windows Service Pack And It Still Won't Recognize It.What
