I've had more than a couple of motherboards in the last few years, and as a result of that I'm left with quite a few extra SATA cables lying around. I have two SATA II/3Gb hard drives both with the higher speed enabled and on a SATA II/3Gb mobo. However having had a few motherboards only capable of supporting the SATA 1.5Gb speeds I am unsure if all my cables are the same speed capable or not. So are there any ways of testing speed capabilities of the cables short of plugging in all of them and timing with a stop watch on a variety of files?

Or do they all transfer at SATA II/3Gb speeds?
