Why does the Government allow drugs like Alcohol and tobacco? and not Weed?
Alcohol and tobacco cause far more deaths than weed ever has and Alcohol makes people violent and has no benefits and tobacco only makes people sick, while weed actually has a lot of good benefits why don't they un-ban weed and ban alcohol and tobacco?
i mean how many people die from Alcohol and tobacco a year? i bet tons
And how many people died form smoking weed? None.
what's wrong with the government... they allow drugs that cause deaths and ban drugs that don't cause deaths....
and btw weed has alot of uses
As far as medicinal treatment is concerned, marijuana has an incredibly long history dating back to thousands of years and hence it should not be amazing to know that at some point or the other marijuana has been recommended for curing almost all the prevalent diseases. It is beneficial as an analgesic as it provides relief from pain with minimum or insignificant side affects. In fact, marijuana is especially beneficial for cancer and AIDS patients who are enduring chemotherapy. Significantly enough, marijuana can also diminish neurological over activity as well as muscle contraction and hence it is very useful for people suffering from multiple sclerosis (hardening and thickening of body tissue as a result of unwarranted growth or degeneration of nerve fibers), cerebral palsy and other muscular disorders.
By lowering the blood pressure, marijuana provides effectual cure for glaucoma. Normally, glaucoma is a condition where the pressure inside the eyeball is unusually high and is also hypertensive affecting the eye disc. Marijuana is also an effectual remedy in curing asthma, menstrual pains, pain associated with childbirth and arthritis as well as rheumatism. It may also be effective in treating depressions as the herb has anti-depressant properties. At the same time, marijuana encourages as well as stimulates sleep helping patients suffering from insomnia. Even the seeds of the marijuana plant are medicinally useful and according to the Chinese medicine, they have strong and effective laxative qualities and are used to provide relief to the elderly people from constipation.
The truth is weed is a drug and no matter how mild it is it can still impair your judgement. I'm going to be completely honest, I think weed SHOULD be legalized. It would be an excellent way to stimulate our economy. However, because of the large number of conservatives in this country, a bill to legalize marijuana would be a hard thing to pull off.
There is hope though, the state of California has tossed the idea around for a long time and many politicians are for it. But once again don't get your hopes up, the same conservatives that voted for Prop 8 would probably be the same people voting against the weed bill(Prop 8 was passed and has not been revoked btw).
Also, weed may not seem as lethal as tobacco, but it still presents the same risks. Smoke is still smoke and your risks of developing cancer still stands with weed. The reason this is almost never seen is because weed isnt habit forming, and I don't think its possible to smoke as much weed as someone would ciggarettes.
So to sum up, weed isnt as innocent as many portray it. Having said that I would also like to add that weed should be legalized to stimulate our economy. If you want weed legalized stick by this argument, its the biggest hope you have.
PS
Weed and alcohol impair your judgement basicly the same way, what makes one worse than the other? I really dont know.
Marijuana is illegal for a few reasons, though whether they are sound or not is another question.
Firstly, it is generally perceived to be addictive. While in some cases it is true, for the most part people do not become addicted to Marijuana.
It also has links with 'hard' drugs, such as cocain and heroin. It is seen as a gateway drug, and therefor as dangerous.
Naturally, the common perception of Marijuana is also with negative lifestyles, such as losers and hippies.
Another thing that makes it difficult to remove the ban is that inertia in the public forum is more powerful than you might think. If there isn't any real outcry for it, then no politician in their right mind will try to take the ban off the books, since that would bring down the fury of many Christian groups.
Alcohol and tabacco are both long standing industries, with powerful lobbying groups, lots of money, and lots of people supporting them. They are perceived as less dangerous, and as more acceptable, even though smoking is becoming very unfashionable.
I agree with legalizing weed but I like my alcohol and smokes. The points you covered were the ones I did in an assignment months ago for English, I have an A+ for that marijuana holds hundreds of medical properties and it' affect is no different in the dangerous aspect to many many things you can purchase over the counter. The government is fucking deluded and needs a major wake up call to the benefits of weed, legalizing it would also help the economy by putting money back into it rather than it going overseas and with drug dealers.
