    car audio question about head unit's?

    i am getting a 12 inch alpine type r subwoofer with a 1200 watt kenwood amplifier for my truck. do I need to buy a new head unit or is the head unit that came with the car gonna work?

    u can make it work.... i mean its doable... but if you want a good quality sound and nice control (low pass/high pass filters) ill get a new deck...i remember when i changed my deck in my first car.... the distortion disappeared and the quality was amazing and i was using my stock speakers (i was amazed)...
    now depending on your budget and demands the choice among decks will vary.
    i personally like pioneer premier series since they come with extended warranty and you get nice quality and neat design, if you prefer quality over everything then go Alpine... those decks are incredible, the design is not impressive but the sound is beautiful.
    whats is your budget?
