Linksys wireless router hooked up to At&t modem, no internet connection!!!?

Hello. I have a linksys wireless router thats about 2 years old and when my at&t modem broke, I bought a new one and it says i have internet connection in bout the modem and router but when I pull up the internet explorer, it says the webpage cannot be displayed! I have resetted both the modem and router and still the same thing! I have done the setup again for linksys too (192.181.1.1)...someone please help me! thank you!
no the at&t modem isnt a router.
