How do you remove the rear pillars of a 97 chevy silverado?

I want to change the speakers, how do I get the pillars off without breaking them?
Edit: I should say, my hubby wants to replace the speakers, not me!!

Yes we are talking about the trim panels over the rear speakers.

I take it it is a standard cab. It is a little hard. You have to take off that whole trim from the pillar to the top of the cab to the other pillar.
