Dvd player does not have a Usb port. Is there any sort of cable that would allow me

Looked up the specs .....nope, there is no way to connect that Sony to an external hard drive.
It's not just a matter of finding a cable. The DVP-NS76H lacks the internal circuitry to be able to read data from a hard drive.
