Have a 360 and use a VGA cable to my 22 inch 1080i tv. Does the XBOX HD DVD player upconvert DVDs over a VGA connection to a higher resolution (or will I need HDMI)? Also want it cause I can find super cheap HD DVDs. Please no talk of how there is no point in buying it because of Blu-Ray, just want it for the upconvert of regular dvds which can be bought for way cheaper than Blu-Ray and still have a similar look. Thanks for the help.

I am pretty sure with the release of the NXE the 360 itself upscales via HDMI I don't think it does it otherwise and it doesn't need the HD-DVD player to do so.

No you can not up convert using VGA you would need ether HDMI or DVI (not an VGA to DVI adapter)

and as far as the up converting for the DVD player for the xbox it is not going to be 1080I you will be lucky to even get 1080 anything you are probably more likely to get 720 I or P
