Check your battery cables to the starter and to the engine and body, make sure they are tight and free of corrosion. Try boosting it, if it starts then it's probably your battery, pull it out and have it tested. If it won't turn over then your starter solenoid is probably screwed you can try hitting it with a hammer and see if that free's it up, if not then change the starter.

My friend has a 1978 truck and it wont start at all we check fuses, battery ignition and the starter but it wont even turn over. we where driving and the truck just stalled on us but we can't get it to start sense that happened. if you had any suggestions please help

Try this. From the starter to the fuse block is a wire, usually purple, maybe blue and only 8" inches or so long till you see a black junction on it close to the starter. It is what they call a fusible link. This fusible link can blow and you wont have power to ANYTHING. Now if the radio, lights and such work I would be looking at the ignition switch.
