if u have a mobile phone that has a camera inbuilt into it, you can test the remote with it, all you do is point the remote at the camera in ur mobile, whilst at the same time looking at the screen of ur mobile - press any button on the remote, if you see (on ur mob phone screen) that a light is coming out of the top of ur remote, then that means that the remote is still sending out a signal, & that means that the signal receiver inside of ur set top box isn't working, meaning it needs to be repaired, or u should buy a new set top box (Tevion-anything is generally cheap & nasty)
