I have a Garmin 60 Csx and am looking into solar power. I know that the unit has a 4 prong plug on the back for charging (I believe at 5V). I'm wondering, if I take 5V worth of solar cells and wire them to the charger cable it would work. The reason why I'm not so sure is because ideally I would have it plugged in while I was hiking, and just strap the solar panel to my pack. Basically it would be moving around, so the amount/intensity of the light wouldn't be constant and would vary. Would this hurt the unit? Would it work? I understand it wouldn't charge the unit as if it were just plugged into the wall (It would take longer) but would it work at all/prolong the battery life?
