Help please- Should I Get A Dog?

I am starting college next year and will be renting a house. I have grown up with dogs all my life and it will break my heart to be without one! Should I adopt a dog from a nearby shelter or wait until college is over? I really love all animals and am very responsible! And also if you are wondering I am getting my degree in animal science and medicines.

if you have the time to raise/train it, go for it.
if you won't have that much time, get a kitten. they're more independant!

    Yes:
-if you will have time to be around with it.
    - time to give him/ her walks
-can afford to pay vet bills/ food
    - dogs can take stress levels down
