easiest way is to have the soil delivered, the driver can probably spread it roughly, and then rent a bobcat for a day from an equipment rental store

...backyard? I have a very large tree in my backyard that has 99% of its roots exposed. I need to add a LOT of soil to not only protect the tree but to also grade my yard. I have a lot of small white gravel around the yard which used to be contained in wood boarders to make a sort of walkway. I've taken all the wood out. I'm wondering if I need to get rid of all the gravel (which would be a nightmare since it has migrated to most of the yard), or can I just scatter it a bit better and put my new soil on top of it? Could it act as a type of drainage for when I either sod or plant grass seed? Please help!
