Abraham lincoln's race?

I have read (YEARS) before that Abraham lincoln was actually the son of a slave woman. (I hate to read, so when I read something I always remember it.) Has anyone else read that and where. I can not remember where I read it, but I know I did. Now with Obama being President, I haven't been able locate it again.
