Orchard Park police are investigating a particularly gruesome killing, the beheading of a woman, after her husband -- an influential member of the local Muslim community -- reported her death to police Thursday.

Police identified the victim as Aasiya Z. Hassan, 37. Detectives have charged her husband, Muzzammil Hassan, 44, with second-degree murder.

"He came to the police station at 6:20 p.m. [Thursday] and told us that she was dead," Orchard Park Police Chief Andrew Benz said late this morning.

Muzzammil Hassan told police that his wife was at his business, Bridges TV, on Thorn Avenue in the village. Officers went to that location and discovered her body.

Muzzammil Hassan is the founder and chief executive officer of Bridges TV, which he launched in 2004, amid hopes that it would help portray Muslims in a more positive light.

On the one hand, there's a billion Muslims in the world. On the other hand, they do all the beheadings and wrap their women up in drapes, as if anyone would want their women., and their prophet was a bloodthirsty pedophile.

I was considering posting this but decided not to. Good point, he was showing muslims in a positive light as he beheaded his wife whom he is still pictured with on his website!!

Are you trying to say that Christians haven't done gruesome crimes? Just pick up the paper and read some of the horrific crimes that have happened by people who have been raised in the Christian faith.

There are bad people in every religion. Violence in every religion goes back centuries. Calling out the Muslim religion because of one person shows your ignorance as a person. I believe the Christians have killed more people in the name of their religion than the Muslims, read a few history books to see for yourself.

This is the problem with humanity, we focus so much on differences that we don't see that we are all human and all make mistakes. Instead of take responsibility for our actions we blame others as we see justified. We will not be wiped off the earth by some asteroid, flood, hurricane, god, or any other natural disaster. We will destroy ourselves as a result of our own stupidity.

It is sad that religion which is such a beautiful thing is turned into something that is an excuse to use violence. Religion doesn't cause problems, people do.
