Verizon Wireless PDA's Phones?

Im due for a new phone this tuseday for verizon......Im 15 years old so i cant afford the extra money a month for a pda of my parents wont... i really want the new samsung touch pda do you need to have a data plan or can you go without it what is the lowest cost for a data plan and if i can go without it what are the consaquences

you can have a smart phone with out data, you just cant use email or web (unless connected thru wifi) im not sure about verizion but my alltel data is 40 more a month. plus your not going to get a free smart phone (except maybe a pearl) through an upgrade, so will have to pay more for a phone that you cant take full advantage of. if you really want a smart phone, wait untill your 16 and get a job and use your upgrade then.
