Poll: Why do people lie about themselves on the Internet?

When I ask questions about what is your education - I get a lot of bachelors, phDs and doctors (there are in real life many people without bachelors degree, and like many phDs spend time in YA)! And for looks, everyone seems to be tall. The women are all hourglass (according to statistics only 8 per cent of women have a genetically hourglass build) and the men are all v-shaped and muscular (only 30 per cent of men have a inverted-triange/v-shape build). Why lie?
