Peanut farmers are complaining no one's buying peanuts. But why didn't peanut

farmers do more to make sure...? ...make sure that the peanut processors weren't shipping contaminated product?
"That is the governments job, not the farmers."

Typical liberal, right here folks, expecting the Government to do EVERYTHING for him!!!!
"at first, they didn't know"

They didn't know? Or they didn't WANT to know??????
"That's not the farmers' responsibility. Once it leaves their farm, that's it."

HAHA! Yeah! Didn't you say the SAME THING about all those LEADED TOYS from CHINA???

Well, at first, they didn't know. But people started finding out, food got recalled, and ta-da, we don't buy much peanuts.
Last week, I was about to buy some peanuts, but I didn't really feel like dying at that moment, so I didn't buy any.

Ahhhh, another failing of the Bush administration being blamed on the working man.

In the past few years we have had the worst record in food safety standards....worse than even China.

This is not the peanut farmers fault. It is the FDA and the USDA. They are lax, underfunded and don't really care if kids eat peanut products and die.

In China, if people die because of your contaminated products or because your government office was lax in the inspection of contaminated products....you are tried in a court and sentenced to death.

Maybe we need a few death sentences here to change the food safety standards.

Because.... Jimmy Carter was a Peanut CEO.

And he got by with Everything because he was a Hate-America Democrat.

Democrat Politicians can get by with Anything.

But Not other people.

That's like saying, why didn't hog or cattle raisers do more to make sure that butchers in the slaughter house made sure the meat was kept contaminant free. Once the produce leaves your hands, you have no way of knowing or controlling what happens to it through processing.

It's not fair or practical to expect farmers to follow their product from their doorsteps to your dinner plate. Food safety is the responsibility of FDA inspectors who are so short of funding that the peanut processing plant only got two inspections a year.

A couple of the employees at the plant DID report a problem with a leaky roof putting contaminated water into the peanut butter paste line but the company OWNERS kept right putting out the product without shutting down the line.

They were unaware of it, even the workers in the plants were unaware of it. According to a report just on the news there was a cover up by company executives to keep it secret. The FBI is pursuing criminal charges.
