Dateline, Near Future, Huge Natural Disaster Hits the USA Putting Millions...

...Out of Their Homes - What Next? I have thought about how our government responded following Katrina, then put it in perspective if a far more devastating natural disaster happened - what would the response be? Could we even respond considering vast numbers of our national guard has been sent overseas? What about big business, our government, etc? Their roles.

    Ponder this:

Following devastating floods in China a few years back, the government made a pledge to the people that the thousands of brick and mortar homes that were destroyed would be replaced to pre existing or better standards within a year. They met that goal ahead of time.

Two months after the devastating earthquake that hit the central part of China that killed 70,000 people, the government made a pledge they would rebuild to pre existing or better standards within 3 years. They also tied that into their recovery after the world wide economic melt down.

Why can China make such pledges but we can't?

In short, how does it feel to be upstaged by a "third" world country that seems to care more about their people then we do?

Think about it, its not we the people, it is we the big business and lets wait for the insurance companies to sort this out and other such entities while China just looks at the problems, hunkers down and gets it done.

Do you really think we'll do that, or more of the same of playing the waiting game while hope and futures vanish?

    Think about it.

It's all about the almighty dollar in this country. That's why many many people in New Orleans have still not received the help they deserve. Capitalism has been the driving force behind the United State's rise to power, but sadly it appears as if it's also going to be the cause of its demise. We can't let our greed get out of control. This is exactly what Karl Marx predicted. Eventually a capitalistic society will see the power and wealth funnel to a select group of the very few. After conditions become so poor for the working class they will be forced to revolt and set up a socialist society. I'm not saying I want to see this happen, but we really need to install some checks on capitalism or it's going to spin out of control and ruin this country.

The ruling elite have nearly completed their evil plan to rake off all easy money and leave millions holding the bag. They have their loot invested offshore and are ready to start printing an ocean of dollars. They will pay off all the loans with "cheap" dollars and laugh all the way to Swiss banks and some in Amsterdam.

Americans are not really educated. Their public education system keeps them barefoot and prenant, if you get me drift.

You know, Jim, You could be on to something there.
Actually, you are dead on right, because this government doesn't care for anything but big business and big money.
I'll admit that you are in a place where you can see this first hand and some of the people will say you are lying or being told what to say, but you and I may have had differences of opinion, yet, I respect you and your ideas.
If something bigger than Katrina would hit, I doubt that any operation would be forth coming at a much more than a snail's pace.

Amazing what can be done once the mind is set, eh? The problem with America is we live in an era where it's one for one and all for none. We, as a country, don't give a rats patootie about our neighbors anymore. We don't care unless it directly affects us. Remember a time in history where barn raising was a normal weekend activity? Neighbors would get together, donate what materials they could and build a barn over a weekend. Some neighbors would even donate land to a family in need. We could still do that. We just don't.

It's a sad world we live in.
