i really want to be able to text?

all my friends have texting, and i REALLY want it too. i have the AT&T Propel cell phone, and there's no point in having that phone if i can't text! and it has a full QWERTY keyboard!! im 13 years old, i get good grades, and im responsible. my parents say that im not ready to text. what does that mean? they say that ill always be texting in front of them and my friends. but i would never do that! how can i convince them that i AM ready to text??

Well they are your parents and the want whats best for you but maybe you should suggest getting a limited amount of messages a month(not unlimited) and if you do txt in front of them all the time they take it away.
