My husband went to the Dominican Republic and I've been trying to text him with...

...my Telus cell phone ...? He's usually really good at texting me back and I just want to know if he made it down there ok. The phone kept saying that the message sent, but I hadn't heard anything, so I added the '1' for Canada before the area code and now it won't send any messages .... is this the wrong code? Or does Telus not let me send a text down there?

I'm confused and would phone him but that costs a lot of money! So any help would be greatly appreciated!
