    DVD Rom fails to open?

I have a Memorex DVD RW 16X ROM Drive that sometimes fails to open when the open/close button on the drive is pressed. It does not show a pattern to this. Even when I select eject form My Computer sometimes it does not open, Software or hardware problem? Driver? OS is XP Pro, the DVD ROm is about 4 years old.

make sure all the wires are plugged in the back of the drive and if it still doesn't work i wud say there is something wrong with the inside's of the drive. my best advice is to just buy a new dvd-rom drive. you can get them now for £25.

My first suggestion would be to make sure the power connector is firmly in place on the rear or the drive.
