i cant remove the radio from my 86 bmw 325?

i got a new head unit for my can and theres a aftermarket pannasonic in the way and i cant get it out... theres a latch on the top right side that we hit and the right side is comin out but the left side is stuck and i cant move it... anny ideas on how to get it out??? and its a 1986 bmw 325

there should be something in the same spot on the left
What i use are firm but really thing strips of plastic to push all that in. Like the kind of plastic you get walkie talkies in or something
