Need opinion on starter bike ?

I am hopefully getting a new bike this year its going to be my first so my first question is is there any website that can teach me everything i need to know from how to take care of it to the bike parts please

Second any good starter sport bikes under 4000$ i don't want boxy looking 1980's bike i was looking at the 08 Ninja 250R and it looks good but i need some other choices so please help nothing too heavy yet not too cheap looking please thanks.
