Will push-ups and sit ups help me in this way?

I am going to plan on doing push ups and sit ups every day to gain a little more strength. I have like no body fat at all, so they aren't too difficult for me. I was wondering on what my weekly schedule for me should be, because I need days to rest so it can build muscle. So how often should I do the push ups and sit ups and will it help me?
