Isn't Obama arrogant for even trying to make a connection between Lincoln

and himself? Obama has done NOTHING! What makes him even think that he can hold a candle to Lincoln? Lincoln sacrificed for the country. Obama has sacrificed for NO ONE!

He may not have sacrificed, but he has inspired a lot of folks. In these cynical times when all our leaders seem to have ulterior motives that is a big deal.
The connection with Lincoln continues the theme of emancipation, of letting people dream. We all achieve according to our capabilities, but it is often like we need permission to succeed. Like until Roger Bannister broke the 4 minute mile record no one thought human beings could do it, but once he did then the record was broken several times over in the ensuing months.
So with Obama becoming prez, its like giving ourselves permission to think big.

I think he has done much more good things than Bush has done in 8 years, not even being president.
But it's not like he is another Lincoln, and I won't compare them that's not my business.

It was arrogant to mock up a Presidential seal for his podium before the election. Imitating Lincoln is just flattering a great President.

He could turn out to be a wonderful president. I doubt it both because he doesn't seem qualified and the deck is horribly stacked against him, but it could be.
