Hi, I'm using KC910 LG Mobile. I wanna play some video tutorials in my mobile, Which I have recorded. I was searching for a free video converter to convert avi file format into divx or xvid. Its because my mobile supports only for these formats. (divx and xvid) I have downloaded some of the converters but most of them are just the trial version with the watermark on the middle. also not successful to feed into my mobile. Is there any one knows for the best and free video converter to convert the files from avi into xvid or divx.

Thanks in Advance.
so Anyone knows the free

I have been using HandBrake for years and it is by far the best video converter I have used. They have presets based on quality and on goal resolution, though you can manually configure any/all the settings you want to get what you are looking for.

From their website:

HandBrake is an open-source, GPL-licensed, multiplatform, multithreaded video transcoder, available for MacOS X, Linux and Windows.

Supported sources:

* Any DVD-like source: VIDEO_TS folder, DVD image or real DVD (unencrypted--protection methods including CSS are not supported internally and must be handled externally with third-party software and libraries), and some .VOB and .TS files
* Most any multimedia file it can get libavformat to read and libavcodec to decode.

Outputs:

* File format: MP4, MKV, AVI or OGM
* Video: MPEG-4, H.264, or Theora (1 or 2 passes or constant quantizer/rate encoding)
* Audio: AAC, MP3, Vorbis or AC-3 pass-through (supports encoding of several audio tracks)

Misc features:

* Chapter selection
* Basic subtitle support (burned into the picture)
* Integrated bitrate calculator
* Picture deinterlacing, cropping and scaling
* Grayscale encoding

VirtualDub
Free, converts AVI to AVI using your choice of codec. It's not very intuitive, but is very flexible and powerful. You will need the appropriate codec installed. You can use ffdshow for decoding most anything and install the free Xvid codec to encode with. You choose frame size, frame rate, audio format, etc.
'Super' is quick, easy, and free.
Avanti, is a graphical front end for ffmpeg and can do all the conversions. Again not very intuitive but very powerful, comes with presets.
Mediacoder is nice, easy, free but 'nag-ware'.

I use Virtual Dub (with Mpeg2 input plugin) to create CD size Xvid movies from DVD.

Most of these tools, such as HandBrake that Nathan is talking about, use ffmpeg for the core conversions.

i use imtoo or psp video converting software. i recommend you go on to the sony website and get there one for free. its for the psp but can change the output of video type along with altering the sound quality as well as resolution size. I'm gonna buy the LG viewty soon as i heard this phone can play anything, it has more codecs on the phone than the i-phone from apple which i am amazed with.
