Wireless internet disconnecting issues?

Whenever my roomate uses his laptop, the internet disconnects every 2-5 minutes or so. This occurs whether he is connected wireless or via a wire. When his laptop is not connected to the internet, the internet works fine, no disconnection issues, but as soon as he is connected, every other internet connection in the house disconnects.

Any help?

the router is a Netgear WGT624. Is there any way for me to not prioritize his IP and use a different one?

Its a problem with the router either intentional or unintentional his laptop is causing the network to fail. To be able to help you figure it out though you would need to tell us what kind of router you are using, Brand and Model.

The problem is probably that the network doesn't want to acknowledge his IP or it is prioritizing his above all others.
