that only uses USB connectors? I'm not talking about "do i need an adapter". I mean "will it be able to interface with the newer motherboard once the adapter is installed".
Is my 5 year old logitech access PS2 keyboard compatible with a new motherboard

It certainly is.
You know the little green USB to PS2 adapters for mice? Well they also work for keyboards. You can pick them up at department stores like walmart for a few bucks at most.
