Well I found a lan adapter on ebay I would like to buy but I want to know if I need the Wii lan adapter or if I can use any adapter?
I have the ethernet wire all I need is an adapter.

yes u need a wii lan adapter. tha book says on pg 61 in channels and settings. broadband internet line, wired router,wii lan adapter, and then wii console.
