we just had a wireless router installed. it's plugged into the computer directly and the computer wont pick up the network connection under network connections in the control panel. help?
Have you gone into the router's setup utility to set the router up? That's the first step (unless the people who installed it already did that).
Anyway, read the manual that came with the router - or download it and read it. There's a certain IP address you type into your web browser that will open the router's setup screens. Sometimes it is:
192.168.0.1
Just type that into the address bar of your browser and it will open the utility to make the router's initial settings. Then Windows should find the network after a reboot.
