My ipod will not hook up to the internet.Whats wrong woth it?

I just got an ipod touch for christmas.I tried right away to hook it up to the internet.I figured out that i needed a wireless router.I went out and got one I set it up last night.I tried to go on the internet after I hooked it up.It found the router but it said that it cant hook up to the internet.The router is brand new so its not that.please help right away.
 
It could be the router. My brother tried to hook up a wireless router but it was not compatible with his ISP. Check into the router further.
 
When u say 'set it up' does this include entering all of the details regarding your internet connection that you are paying for, such as login and password. If they are not correctly entered into the router settings then i doubt u will be able to connect to the internet.

Saying as your ipod actually connected i would assume this is the case. I would check over what u did again in the set up.

Or log in to http://192.168.0.1 with username: admin and password probably still password. Other than that i cannot help sorry
