I just bought an iphone 2g 8gb from my friends today..?

Ok i bought the iphone because he just got the 3g, so the phone is not activated i need to know how to activate it so i can get the firmware so i can know how to unlock it and what firmware to use i need help and fast i have heard its easy but.. im having trouble!!!!!
I have to actrivate using t mobile..
