Is it true that only the dealership can replace a catalytic converter on a KIA

I'm going thru the same thing right now with my Mercedes. My dealership told me they could get one and put it on and it'd be around 1500. But I told em I would look online for one. I found one that should be about 800 dollars online. She said they would put it in for me. The whole thing for me was trying to find a California legal one. Good Luck!
