Need help upgrading internet explorer, doesn't seem to work?

Every time I try to upgrade from Internet Explorer version 6 to version 7 it doesn't work. I have an older computer XP home edition, operating system version 5.1.2600. Service Pack 1

It says it is not supported on this operating system. Any ideas?
 
Service pack one does not support IE 7 but you can get service pack 2 and 3 updates for free for your computer at the microsoft site, then you will be able to update your IE 6 to IE 7. only XP sp2 in necessary, but sp3 is helpful for some things as well. Hope this helped. Good luck to you.
