I have had aquariums for years. A 20 gallon is a good place to start but don't make the mistake of overcrowding the tank. Get a good grow light, power filter, and heater. Start by putting some live plants in the tank and allow the water to de-chlorinate for a day or two. Live bearers, like swordtails or platys, are great beginner fish. They are colorful and active. A pair(male and female) of each would be good. A small bottom feeder, like an albino cory, would be good as well. Have fun!
