    Does sony blu-ray upscale regular dvds?

    i got a 52" sony tv that came with a sony blu-ray player and i connected it with an hdmi cable and it says it will play in 1080p but there is no difference in definition(or as i can see) what should i do or please help me

    Your blu-ray player can only do so much. It can't turn a standard definition dvd into a hi-def dvd. In other words it can't add pixels that aren't there in the first place. All it can do is increase the sharpness of you standard dvd. If you want true hi-def buy, or rent, your movies on blu-ray.
