What's it like to buy an animal and have it shipped overseas?

depends on the countries you are shipping to and from..
there is paperwork invovled.. the dog needs certain vaccinations and exams before being shipped.. quarantine may be required.. depends on the countries.
I know to ship a dog within the US, its about $300.. so I imagine it would cost quite a bit more to import and export a dog.

Shipping is expensive.
You need to put the animal you are buying through quarantine; also expensive.
And they say it is traumatic for animals to be shipped because of all the changes.
I would just buy a small dog within your own state, that way you will save a lot of money and time.
