Will a shrew's bite harm my cat?

I thought it was voles I had at my new place, but upon pictures and research I have found it is the northern short tailed shrew - which is poisonous.

My cats recenty caught one. He is still in our garage (hopefully alive) but if they get bit, what will happen to them?
