if i unlock the lg shine does that mean it will work with any carrier?

i bought this lg shine off ebay and it says its unlocked and will work with us cellular which is the carrier i have, is it true? will it work? i dont have contract though, its the pre paid plans so will it work? and if not is there any possible way to get the lg shine to work with us cellular?
