Ok, so I want to know if I can buy, and use my own modem, instead of paying 10$ a month for ISP providers modem?

Yes you can. First off call your isp and ask them what kind of cable modem you need and then go to bestbuy, microcenter, fry's or an electronics store. I would check with your isp because a couple years ago my isp reduced the price of modem rental to 3 dollars a month and it is great when the modem dies I just call tech support go through the troubble shooting and then go and pick up another cable modem that works. If you own it then every time it gets flaky you need to dole out more money! I tend to replace my cable modem at least once a year.
